Always pay in the local currency
When a card machine or ATM abroad offers to charge you in your home currency, decline it. That "dynamic currency conversion" bakes in a 3–8% markup. How it works →
Skip the airport kiosk
Airport and hotel exchange counters carry the widest margins, often 5–12% worse than the mid-market rate. Order currency ahead or use a low-fee card instead. Compare your options →

About today's currency rates
Every rate on this page is a mid-market reference rate — the midpoint of the global buy and sell price for each currency. It's the figure quoted by financial news and the fairest benchmark for judging what your bank or transfer app actually offers. We source fiat rates from the European Central Bank and crypto prices from CoinGecko, and timestamp every update.
Exchange rates move constantly as interest rates, inflation, trade flows, and market sentiment shift. Use the converter above for a quick calculation, open any pair for full conversion tables and a multi-year chart, or read our guides to understand why the rate you're offered is rarely the rate you see here.
Frequently asked questions
What is the mid-market exchange rate?
It's the midpoint between the global buy and sell price of a currency — the fairest, most neutral measure of what one currency is worth in another, and the rate we publish on every page. Banks, cards, and apps usually add a margin on top, so the rate you actually transact at is a little worse.
How often are the rates updated?
Fiat currency rates come from European Central Bank reference rates and update each business day. Cryptocurrency prices come from CoinGecko and refresh far more frequently. Every page shows the exact timestamp the data was gathered.
Can I use these rates to exchange or send money?
Use them as a benchmark, not a quote. Our rates are indicative mid-market reference rates and are not transactable — your bank or provider sets its own rate with a margin added. Compare their offer to the mid-market rate here to see how much markup you're paying.
Do you cover cryptocurrency?
Yes. Major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are included alongside 40+ fiat currencies, with live conversion and historical charts.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It's completely free and there's no sign-up. The converter, charts, history, and guides are all open — no account, no paywall, no email required.
